HURST advises law firm's shareholders on sale to Express Solicitors
A team at HURST Corporate Finance has advised the shareholders of personal injury law firm Jefferies Solicitors on the sale of the practice to Express Solicitors.
Lauren Roberts, an associate director at HURST Corporate Finance, and corporate finance executive Danielle Tierney worked on the transaction with Jefferies’ founder Michael Jefferies and director Monina Ramsden.
Express Solicitors is a top 100 law firm which specialises in personal injury and accident claims, cycle accident claims and serious injury cases.
The acquisition of Altrincham-based Jefferies Solicitors brings with it almost 50 additional staff and reinforces its bench strength in personal injury law.
Monina, who also sits part-time as a deputy district judge, has joined Express as a partner along with her catastrophic injury team, and adds her wealth of experience and technical knowledge to complement the existing specialist departments.
Michael established the firm more than 25 years ago. He said it was important to find the right successor practice.
He said: “I am personally at a stage in my career where I’m looking to move on to other projects. We have been incredibly careful when selecting a firm to look after our staff, and the firm’s clients. Finding a firm with the same ethos was a vital factor.
“We were pleased to see during our dealings with Express Solicitors that they are committed to client care, staff welfare and progression, and wish them further success.”
He added: “The HURST team helped us every step of the way. Nothing was too much trouble. I was recommended to HURST by a previous client of theirs who had sold their business.
“It was so beneficial to have a committed third party to help us with the negotiations with our buyer, which were both tough and fair.
“We believe that, with HURST's assistance, we achieved the best deal possible which included maximising the price we received, and jobs being offered to all our staff.”
James Maxey, managing partner at Express Solicitors, said Jefferies has an excellent reputation with exacting standards and good lawyers.
“We look forward to welcoming the talented staff and will carry on the Jefferies tradition,” he said.
