Spring Statement 2025

We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting an online event on Thursday 27 March where we will give our immediate reaction to the Chancellor Rachel Reeve’s Spring Statement 2025.
The Chancellor is not expected to make major policy announcements, following her commitment to just the one key fiscal event each year, being the Autumn Budget. That said, there is still scope for Reeves to surprise, as evidenced by the raft of tax raising measures announced in October 2024. And it’s hard to see how she will maintain her red lines around not borrowing to fund day-to-day spending, and getting national debt falling, without resorting to major cuts to public spending or possible further tax raising measures. Employers in particular will be looking closely at the announcements to see if the Chancellor has listened to their concerns about ever growing demands being placed on them.
The event will be hosted by Adrian Young, Tax Partner at HURST. Adrian will begin by talking through the key measures announced by the Chancellor.
Adrian will be joined by Alex Brandreth, Chief Investment Officer at Luna Investment Management. Alex will share his personal insights into the Spring Statement and will provide some valuable financial perspectives. Outside of the UK it has certainly been an eventful start to the year with Donald Trump’s return to the White House leading to tariffs being implemented, negotiations on bringing the war in Ukraine to an end and increase defence spending by governments. Alex will set out what this all means in light of the Spring Statement announcements.
Whereas the session will be interactive, we will also leave time at the end of the session for people to ask questions and to share their thoughts with the audience.
We hope you can join us for what should be a thought-provoking session.
