HURST Advises As Human Race Group Acquires Xtra Mile Events

Human Race, which is owned by Amaury Sport Organisation, focuses on delivering events in running, cycling sportives, triathlons and duathlons. Ian Dawson, of HURST Corporate Finance, said: "It was a pleasure to work with the Xtra Mile Events team on this transaction. They have developed the business impressively with some superb flagship events which include the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon and the Manchester Half Marathon.“Xtra Mile Events is in great hands, and Human Race as part of Amaury Sport Organisation has the experience and capability to take the events to the next level.”

The acquired events will be delivered alongside key events in the Human Race portfolio, including the Maserati Tour de Yorkshire Ride, Cancer Research UK London Winter Run and VitalityMove with Jessica Ennis-Hill. Xtra Mile Events was established 10 years ago as a triathlon events business. It brought back the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon in 2012 after a 10-year absence. It also launched the Manchester Half Marathon in 2016.

Xtra Mile Events will continue to work alongside host councils to support local health and economic impact agendas, as well as charities.Nick Rusling, chief executive of Human Race, said: “Participation events are a vital part of the fabric that keeps the country moving and are what we love.
